The WRCC is spearheading the Pathways Partnership program to engage Warrior Run School District residents and municipalities in the development of recreation and environmental conservation projects in Delaware, Gregg, Lewis, Anthony and Limestone townships, McEwensville, Turbotville, and Watsontown boroughs (see map). With assistance from SEDA-COG, the Pathways program will assess recreation and environmental conservation needs and opportunities and propose greenway design concepts to help preserve historic and environmentally sensitive areas and to develop a network of trails for recreational enjoyment, health and fitness, and environmental study.
The Pathways Partnership program assessment of local recreation and conservation needs and opportunities and the regional greenway concept plan will be used as a framework for developing municipal and school projects. The Pathways program and plan will strive to balance economic and environmental interests and help community leaders develop the action strategies and partnerships needed to achieve local planning, development, and conservation objectives within the broader context of the Warrior Run community.
The Pathways Partnership program will:
-
Identify high-value natural, cultural and historic assets
-
Call attention to critical groundwater resource issues.
-
Propose water-quality restoration and management solutions.
-
Propose community connections via an interconnected open space network.
-
Identify links to the Susquehanna Greenway.
-
Help residents discover and enjoy the region’s towns and countryside.
-
Create opportunities for school-related environmental education programs and community service projects
